Regifted Cactus Reveals
A coworker regifted me a plastic cactus figurine, which I later discovered hid a spy camera after knocking it over. It reminded me of my friend group’s manipulative dynamics and poor boundaries. At a dinner with Susan and Greg, they ordered a $200 meal while I had a $4 drink. Greg suggested splitting the bill among six, though only three ate, leaving Dan with a $146.98 tab despite his $50 share. Frustrated, I left a $10 tip and walked out. The
next day, Susan and Greg called me an “AH” for not ordering food, and Dan blamed me for his trouble, though he enabled their behavior. I explained he could’ve confronted them, but he didn’t. Tired of their unfairness, I stood up for myself to encourage respect and fairness in our friendships, hoping to change the group’s dynamic for the better.
