A Husband’s Unexpected Words
I followed my husband into the house, my curiosity piqued. When I found him sitting at the kitchen table with his parents, I stayed quiet, not wanting to intrude. His voice was trembling, his head buried in his hands.
“I don’t know if I’m good enough for her,” he said, his voice breaking. “She’s been incredible—marrying me so quickly, raising our baby, keeping everything together. And I feel like I’m falling short. I can’t give her everything she deserves, and it’s eating me up inside.”
I froze, stunned by his words. He wasn’t complaining about me, as my initial fears had suggested. Instead, he was pouring his heart out, overwhelmed by his love and insecurities.
His mother placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Son, you’re doing more than you realize. She loves you, and she chose you because she believes in you. You just need to believe in yourself.”
Tears welled up in my eyes. I stepped into the room, unable to stay silent any longer. “I didn’t marry you because you’re perfect,” I said softly, catching his attention. “I married you because I love you, flaws and all. You are enough—for me and for our baby.”
He looked up, his eyes red and glistening. “You mean that?”
I nodded, walking over to embrace him. “Of course I do. You’re a wonderful husband and father, and we’re lucky to have you.”
For the first time that day, I saw a small smile tug at the corners of his lips. “I don’t deserve you,” he murmured.
“You deserve everything,” I replied, holding him close.
Sometimes, the hardest battles are the ones we fight within ourselves. But love has a way of reminding us that we’re never truly alone. That day, my husband’s tears reminded me of the strength it takes to be vulnerable—and the power of standing together, no matter what.
