Ryan O’Neal, Star of Love Story, Dies at 82 Amid Family Strife and Lasting Love with Farrah Fawcett

Ryan O’Neal, famed for Love Story and Barry Lyndon, died on December 8, 2023, at 82, after battling congestive heart failure, prostate cancer, and leukemia. His personal life, marked by a turbulent relationship with Farrah Fawcett, was often controversial. O’Neal’s children, Griffin, Tatum, and Redmond, were absent from his small burial at Westwood Memorial Park, where he was laid to rest beside Fawcett, fulfilling his wish despite some objections.

Griffin, estranged for 17 years, was not invited but wished to attend. Tatum reconciled with her father in the 2000s and mourned his death. Only 25 people attended the memorial. Patrick O’Neal defended his father’s legacy, criticizing his initial exclusion from the 2024 Emmys’ “In Memoriam” tribute, though Ryan was later honored.
