Former President Donald Trump Faces More Legal Troubles

Former President Trump faced new legal challenges Thursday, charged with conspiracy, obstruction, and violating constitutional rights over his alleged role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. He pleaded not guilty at a D.C. federal courthouse. Manhattan prosecutors obtained Trump’s video testimony from the E. Jean Carroll defamation case, where he was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation, to use in a March 2024 trial over a hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump faces 34 felony charges for falsifying records in the Daniels case, denies wrongdoing, and claims the investigations are a politically motivated “witch hunt.” His legal team argues the Carroll case evidence should stay confidential. These cases further complicate Trump’s post-presidency.
