Trump Set To Skip The White House Correspondent’s Dinner For Fifth Time

President Donald Trump will skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 26, continuing his first-term boycott. He has criticized the event for featuring anti-Trump comedians, like Amber Ruffin, who was replaced after planning to call the administration “murderers.” Trump previously held “fake news awards” to counter the dinner.

The White House has also taken control of the press pool rotation, excluding the Associated Press after it refused to support renaming the Gulf of America. The decision highlights ongoing tensions with the White House Correspondents’ Association, with several Trump cabinet members, including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, also opting out. Meanwhile, CNN’s Harry Enten reported a surprising poll showing Republicans tying Democrats as the “party of the people,” a shift from Democrats’ historical lead.
