I Went to Pick Up My Wife and Newborn Twins from the Hospital — I Found Only the Babies and a Note

I arrived at the hospital to bring home my wife, Suzie, and newborn twins, balloons in tow, beaming with joy. But when I reached her room, Suzie was gone, leaving only a cryptic note: “Goodbye. Ask your mother WHY she did this to me.” The nurse said she’d checked out, claiming I knew. I left in a daze, cradling my daughters.

At home, my mom greeted me with a casserole, but I confronted her with the note. She denied everything, but later I found her letter to Suzie: “You’ll never be good enough. Leave before you ruin their lives.” Furious, I kicked her out.

Months passed as I raised the twins alone, haunted by Suzie’s absence. A friend revealed my mom’s cruel words had deepened Suzie’s despair. Then, a year later, a text from an unknown number showed Suzie with the twins, saying, “I hope you forgive me.” I couldn’t reach her, but I never stopped searching.

On the twins’ first birthday, Suzie appeared at my door, tears in her eyes. She’d left overwhelmed by postpartum depression and my mom’s venom, seeking therapy to heal. We embraced, and slowly, together, we rebuilt our family.
