Mom is pregnant with quintuplets and gives birth like a real hero
Many couples struggling to conceive turn to medicine, and Guillermina and Fernando Garcia were no exception. After having a daughter, they longed to give her a sibling. When natural attempts failed, they opted for IVF, knowing it could lead to multiples—and open to whatever blessings came their way.
When Guillermina became pregnant, the couple was thrilled. But they were stunned to learn she was carrying quintuplets.
Due to the complexity of her pregnancy, Guillermina was closely monitored by Dr. Elizabeth O’Brien at the University of Utah Hospital. At 31.5 weeks, she delivered five healthy babies via C-section, each weighing between 2 and 3 pounds. Her belly had been bruised from the strain—common in such cases—but the birth went better than expected.
The babies—Fernando, Esmeralda, Fatima, Marissa, and Jordan—spent six weeks in the hospital before joining their big sister Julietta at home.
“We feel like we’re dreaming,” Fernando said. A doctor also praised Guillermina’s strength and positivity throughout.
The quintuplets are now nine years old. May their journey continue to be blessed.
