My Mom Passed Away a Year Ago – Her Ex Still Lives in Our House and Brought His New Girlfriend to Kick Me Out, but I Gave Them a Reality Check

A year after Mom passed, I came home to find my suitcases by the door and a stranger in her robe.

“Time for you to leave,” she smirked.

“Who are you?”

“Vanessa. Rick’s fiancée.”

Rick—Mom’s ex. The man I let stay.

“This is my house,” I said.

She laughed. “Rick was just being nice letting you stay.”

Rick walked in, smug. “Kid, don’t make this harder.”

The doorbell rang. “That’ll be the lawyer.”

Rick paled.

The attorney entered. “This house belongs solely to her daughter.”

Vanessa turned on Rick. “You lied to me?” She stormed out.

Rick stammered. The attorney sighed. “Leave, or face trespassing charges.”

A knock. Two officers. “You have 24 hours.”

That night, Rick packed. By morning, silence filled my home.

I placed Mom’s picture back.

“I did it, Mom.”

Kindness isn’t weakness. Standing up for myself was power.
